The European Swing: 3 Days at The Soudal Open

It’s so good to have the DP World Tour back in Europe. For many players and those of us in the traveling circus of pro golf, it really feels like the true start of the season—familiar faces, familiar courses, and a little less jet lag to contend with. This week, we're at one of the players’ favourite venues in Belgium. The course has that classic Surrey vibe, reminiscent of Sunningdale, where precision always wins out over pure power. Wide, immaculate ranges and endless short game space make it a dream to practice here.

There’s a palpable energy in the air as the Tour trucks arrive for the first time this season. The place is buzzing; guys are busy tweaking lofts, checking lies, and lining up consultations with the tech experts who seem to tweak and optimise every club in every bag. I love this side of the tour—so much knowledge crammed into every interaction, every subtle adjustment.

I had the chance to reconnect with some of the leading coaches on Tour this week. It was great to catch up with Liam James, who continues to do outstanding work. His feel-based coaching approach really resonates with players, and it’s been brilliant to see many of them weaving Sure-Golf products into their routines as a result.

Away from the range, there were some great moments shared with the Callaway Tour team over dinner — a group whose commitment to their players is second to none. Whether it’s club builds, on-course feedback, or the smallest of adjustments, their attention to detail is relentless. Conversations with the equipment reps — including a fascinating deep dive on shaft profiles with Sean from True Temper — are always packed with insight and learning.

And for anyone visiting a DP World Tour event this season, the new Taylormade Tour trucks are well worth a look — an impressive setup that speaks volumes about the professionalism and care behind the scenes — hats off to Mark, Sam, and Alex for a job well done.

What’s been most striking this week is the ongoing support and genuine enthusiasm from the players. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how naturally the brand has been embraced out here — nearly every player is working on a specific pattern or refining a subtle tendency — whether it’s warming up effectively, reinforcing a key movement, or simply reconnecting with their baseline “neutral” feel. Watching them reach for Sure-Golf gear to dial in their equilibrium has been both inspiring and rewarding. It’s a reminder of why we do this.

It was great to catch up with Eugenio Chacarra again this week. We first connected at Sotogrande last season, and since then he’s really made the Tour Feel a core part of his training. I hadn’t seen his swing since India, and the added width and structure he’s developed is clear — he’s moving beautifully, and I’d be surprised if he’s not back in the winner’s circle before long.

Lastly, I spent some time with a few players who generously shared their experiences with our products and how they integrate them into their routines. Check out their insights below!

Next stop: an early Monday morning flight to Austria. I’ll report back from there next week.

Ángel began incorporating The Rotator into his training midway through last season, having identified a need to enhance the connection between his torso and arms — a fundamental element for improved sequencing and rotational control. The synergy between his technical goals and the product’s cause and effect made it an obvious fit.

Eugenio Chacarra

Hero Indian Open 2025 Champion

Eugenio Chacarra began using the Tour-Feel at the Andalucía Masters last year, and it’s played a significant role in helping him refine his arm structure through impact. Previously prone to folding his lead arm too much — leading to inconsistencies in strike and control — Eugenio has now found a daily rhythm with the product.

“It’s been a game changer,” he says. “I used to fold my lead arm too much, which created inconsistencies. Now, I just top up the feeling each day with about 15 to 20 shots. It’s not technical — it’s just a feel that gives me immediate feedback and consistency.”

This feel-first approach has helped him create a more repeatable motion, and it’s no surprise he’s already found the winner’s circle this season.

Alex del Rey

Ras Al Khaimah Championship 2025 Champion

A winner on the 2025 DP World Tour, Alex del Rey added The Rotator to his training toolkit in September last year. Known for his explosive power, Alex understands that efficient sequencing between the torso and arms is critical to maintaining control — especially under pressure.

“I like to simplify things,”  he says. “The Rotator helps me match up my arms and torso, making it feel like my pivot controls the swing. Simplicity and repetition over time are key for me, and the Rotator makes my swing feel more connected and consistent.”

The product has become a central part of his warm-up and technical work, allowing him to build his swing around feel-based feedback and body-led movement.

Callum Hill

Joburg Open 2025 Champion

Callum Hill, another 2025 DP World Tour winner, incorporates The Connector into his daily routine to reinforce core fundamentals. With a previous tendency to fall under plane and lose structure, Callum has used The Connector’s unique feedback to build a more reliable and efficient swing shape.

“The Connector is an integral part of my practice,” he explains. “It helps me reinforce the feeling of getting the club on plane and developing a consistent swing. I used to have a tendency to roll under plane, but with the Connector’s feedback — focusing on keeping the centre rod more upright — I’ve been able to lock in better arm structure and build a more reliable motion.”

Alex Fitzpatrick

Alex began working with The Rotator at last season’s BMW International Open in Munich, and it quickly became a staple in his training routine. One of the key areas of focus for Alex has been improving the synchronisation between his body and arms — particularly during transition and through impact.

“When my body stalls, my hands and arms get disconnected, leading to issues with path and face control,” Alex explains. “The Rotator helps me coordinate my body turn and the club, creating a more neutral delivery. My lead shoulder and hand now work more underneath through the swing, resulting in a better starting line and a more stable clubface.”
